THE FULLEST Scopes: March is a Big Cosmic Month

March is transitional, guiding us here in the Northern Hemisphere from Winter to Spring (and from Summer to Fall in the Southern). Piscean fluidity gives way, on the 20th, to Aries’s boldness and the Astrological New Year. All Marches, in other words, are significant. But this one’s impact is far and wide reaching. The month starts with an energetic hoorah, the yearly conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, the Universe’s kiss. This year, it’s in Aries and whatever it is, we’re in it to win it. This magical meetup is sweet but short. It’s March 7th, with the Virgo Full Moon and, much more importantly, Saturn’s transit into Pisces that leaves its mark. Saturn reminds us that life is full of lessons and the next two and a half years those lessons come in the form of faith. Pisces governs the unseen world, mysticism, escapism, addiction, oneness, forgiveness, the healing arts, photography, painting. We’re learning just how far we’ve strayed from the soulful and heartfelt.

Life is not a straight line. Conflating our worth with the material world only leaves us empty and bereft.

It’s been heavy these past few years, with Saturn in Aquarius showcasing how technology has dampened our humanity, leaving us more isolated and tribal than ever. Pisces melds. It’s neither this, nor that, but something all together new. Aquarius’s cerebral impetus to label and allocate is dissolved in Pisces’s foggy haze. What separates us is far less than what unites. With this new energetic focus in tow, we greet the New Moon in Aries and Aries Season, March 20th, a bit differently. New beginnings emerge, not from aggressive assertions and overly boundaried cord cutting, but from loosening and releasing what’s weighing us down. Never enough is never enough. Aries wants to live now, learning as it goes, reminding us all that life is meant for living. So when Pluto begins its transit into Aquarius, after 15 years (!) in Capricorn, and we start hearing the chants of “power to the people” we’re not surprised that our individuality — and what it means in a technocratic world — underlies every conversation.Pluto’s movement through Capricorn, which officially ends next January 24th, after a brief Retrograde back into the sign, revealed all the ways in which we’ve outsourced our power to establishments and institutions. Now, in Aquarius, where it was during both the American Revolutionary War and the French one, the proverbial chickens are coming home to roost. What a time to be alive. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart. But we have Saturn in Pisces, cleaning up our addictions and grounding our faith. All the worlds a stage, Shakespeare famously touted. And from chaos, comes birth.

So how will we harness this energy to the greatest effect? What unconscious (Pisces) patterns are ready to dissolve, returning, as my teachers would say, to the nothingness from whence they came? What bold new actions (Aries) will we take? And how can we continue our faith (Pisces) as the power balance continues to shift in the collective (Pluto)?

It’s a big month. Let’s make it count!
