THE FULLEST Faves XVIII

From tempeh to tea and from saffron baths to the power of actually gathering in person; if you’re looking for some affordable DIY mood boosters, this month our Editor-In-Chief shares some of her simple loves that garner big feels and don’t break the bank. Check them out below!

Herbal Garden Iced Tea

I’m a huge fan of Honey Hi’s Farmer Market Tea so we made our own version at home with a tulsi base, packed with herbs from the garden like sage, thyme, chamomile, and lemongrass. Sweetened with manuka honey and enjoyed iced — it’s my favorite weekly ritual to make with my little ones.

San Diego Tempeh

As a longtime plant-based (but not exclusively) eater, I’m a huge fan of tempeh because it’s a great protein that has tons of naturally occurring probiotics from the fermentation process it undergoes. I’m not into soy products in general because of the high likelihood of GMO contamination and other environmental degradation issues with its overuse so I like that this company makes tempeh from sunflower seeds, chickpeas, and mung beans. My favorite is the chickpea and sunflower seed one — if you’re in the LA area, they sell them at all Erewhon markets.

Mood

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of mood on every aspect of our lives. Depending on our mood, we can manage issues that arise in a calm, cool, and collected way that will in turn support a positive outcome, rather than a rage blackout that some of us can experience (I’ve been guilty of this with certain family members triggering old wounds!). A good mood supports us in parenting, in having difficult conversations, in our own self-confidence and more. Mood is everything! For mood support, take our Kinder Thoughts™ capsules, drink a Warm Feelings™ saffron latte, or take some time out for yourself and soak in our saffron bath soaks.

In-Person Events

Before Covid, I took in-person events for granted. It felt like a lot to manage with the kids and sometimes we weren’t sure it was worth all our effort as a brand (although we still did them often, including holding our own conferences). Now that we are getting back into gathering more often with others and learning about a new brand or sharing more about our own brand, I’m reminded that nothing can replace a real life, in-person connection with another person. So be on the lookout for more upcoming in-person events that we’ll be a part of this year!

Weck Jars instead of Ball Mason Jar

I have always noticed a funny taste when I lick something off the lid of my Ball jar, which is because of the lining they use on the closure. This taste has become more and more intense to me and I realized there’s a solution! Weck Jars use a natural rubber lining with their glass lids and also offer cork and wood lids as another non-toxic solution. I’m obsessed :)

Birch Drying Rack

We’ve been hand washing our clothes more often these days and this drying rack is my go-to because it’s not something you need to hide and it looks cute in the laundry area. Personally, I need things to be as easy and accessible as possible — so I keep my drying rack out to make hand washing more top of mind.Nikki Bostwick is the founder and editor in chief of THE FULLEST and host of THE FULLEST Podcast.
