Fayr Enrichment: A New Way to Co-Parent

Some say the best inventions are ones that seem simple; a design that provides you with something you didn’t know you needed. Fayr, at first glance, does seem like an amalgamation of tools we’re already familiar with -- a shared calendar, private messaging, budgeting, and journaling all in one place. Except, there’s one major aspect the creator of Fayr, Michael Daniels, has focused on that has yet to be optimized and improved upon: the tedious nature of divorcing when there are children involved. Until you go through a divorce (which about 40% of us will), the time-wasting paperwork and documentation won’t be the first thing that comes to your mind, but, if Marriage Story has taught us anything, it’s that court-admissible evidence is king.

When you’re fighting over custody or coordinating expenses with your ex-spouse, nothing is more valuable than extensive documentation.

That’s where Fayr comes in, aiming to reduce stress by combining all your superpowers in one easy interface that allows you to export admissible documents, whether it be receipts, notes, screenshots of communications with your co-parent, or any scheduling issues you may face. Fayr understands that in this marketplace, customization is key and prides itself on providing clients a life-altering tool that is the farthest thing from one-size-fits-all.And Fayr is not stopping there. The team is in the process of launching a customizable online co-parenting course under a new educational tool dubbed “Fayr Enrichment,” aimed to educate about the entire divorce experience -- whether it’s a high-conflict separation or an amicable one.Enter Nikki Bruno, Co-Creator of Fayr Enrichment, Director of Curriculum and Founder of The Epic Comeback, a coaching company that revitalizes your spirit after trauma. Having trained extensively in education and curriculum planning, Bruno has had first-hand experience in separation and co-parenting and has created an extensive set of courses that each co-parent can access online at their own convenience.

Fayr Enrichment’s virtual modules are formulated to each client’s specific situation (after filling out an onboarding questionnaire) and taught by experts in the field of co-parenting and child development, amongst others.

The ultimate goal for Fayr is to be the main online portal for co-parents who are either starting or finishing with the separation process, including options for pre and post divorce mediation, court-mandated courses, and discounts with brand partners across America. As this interactive manual is still in the works (they are currently accepting angel investors), Bruno has left us with some advice for navigating through this painful chapter.

The way your kids find out about the separation must be planned in advance.

Absolutely make sure you are on the same page about how you are going to tell your kids, when you’re going to tell them, whether you’re going to tell them together or separately, and what you’re going to say. If you don’t do that, you are breaking a cardinal rule and stealing the voice of the other parent by taking that messaging in your own hands.

When you introduce your kids to new homes, encourage them to have ownership over this new transition in their lives.

No matter the age of your kids, involve them in the process of creating the physical space of their new home or homes… especially for younger kids as it’s a very physical way for them to feel, in a positive way, like they’re creating and building something. Instead of a loss, it can feel more like a gain.

If both parties have healthy relationships with their children, avoid parental alienation.

The best thing for the identity of your kids, no matter how old they are, is to have access to a meaningful and loving relationship with both parents. If one parent is trying to get the kid against the other parent, it’s extremely detrimental for everyone involved.

When introducing your kids to a new boyfriend/girlfriend, make sure they aren’t caught off guard.

Take your time with it. Don’t go from 0 to 100 overnight. The gradual introduction of a new partner provides your children the opportunity to get used to a new situation.

Give your kids unconditional love.

Express to them that both their parents love them and that will never change. Love and support is always number one. Sonia Gumuchian is an independent writer and filmmaker based in Vancouver, Canada.
