What Does this Essential Oil Queen and UN Consultant Pack in Her Suitcase?

In 2014, Sara Panton and her brother Sean launched Vitruvi, a natural essential oil company made by and for millennial women. Vitruvi products are now sold in 300+ stores internationally, with retail partners such as Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Goop, and Sephora. It has quickly become a leading brand in the natural cosmetics movement and is now the only omni-channel essential oil company in the US with month-over-month growth online and a social presence that millennial women can relate to and learn from. While running Vitruvi is a full-time commitment, giving back is still Sara's number one passion. She sits on the board of UNICEF Innovation, is a board member and advisor to the SFU Chang Innovation Centre and the United Nations Women's Entrepreneurship group, and is a member of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. We caught up with the philanthropic businesswoman to ask her to share the seven things she’s most interested in at the moment. This is what she said...

1 | SALT & STONE SUNSCREEN SPF 50 STICK --

I am passionate about finding the best completely natural and non-toxic makeup and skincare products. I believe the products women put on their skin should not only work effectively, they should nourish and benefit their skin. I’ve used a natural sunscreen every day since I was 19, and am first to say the quality of non-toxic sunscreen has improved so much in the last 10 years. The Salt & Stone Stick is the best highly protective sunscreen I’ve ever used. It almost looks like a highlighter! I apply it to my cheekbones, around my eyes, and to my forehead every morning.

2 | GOOP FRAGRANCE #2 --

Beyond being a beautifully designed and truly complex aroma, this fragrance is made with natural sugar alcohols and contains no artificial aromas. I am such a fan that I have a travel-sized one in my bag at all times and a large bottle in my bathroom at home.

3 | GERANIUM ESSENTIAL OIL & GROVE DIFFUSER BLEND --

I love mixing the Vitruvi diffuser blends with some of my favorite single origin essential oils. Grove is a blend I designed to smell like Cathedral Grove in Canada. It has some of the oldest cedar trees in Canada and contains a beautifully deep and lush aroma. Mixing Grove with the floral and slightly minty aroma of Geranium is my latest favorite combination.

4 | AWAY’S EVERYWHERE BAG --

I usually travel at least one week out of every month and my Away Everywhere bag changed my entire travel experience. It fits seamlessly on my navy blue Away carry-on bag which charges my phone and laptop on the go.

5 | VEGA’S HYDRATOR --

It’s been a really warm summer in Vancouver and I jog every day along the water despite the sometimes crazy heat. I try to drink as much water as possible but I find that the Vega Hydrator helps me drink even more and hydrate more efficiently. I sip it at my desk during the day and during long meetings.

6 | BEES & BONES LINEN SHIRTS --

I usually wear the same sort of uniform every day: sandals, Levi’s jeans, and a linen shirt. I love the linen shirts from Bees & Bones! They make really amazing custom shirts and you can choose your own unique hemline and sleeve length.

7 | THE POCKET: THICH NHAT HANH --

I have always been very drawn to the zen philosophy on living and am usually reading a book on different aspects of Zen living, love, relationships, work, and creativity. The Pocket: Thich Nhat Hanh is one that I keep in my travel bag and usually flip through while I’m on a plane or in a car. It’s nice to have time away from screens as often as possible -- I will likely never stop reading paperback books!
