Hitler, According to the Zodiac
“But what about Hitler?”It’s a question that surfaces often in spiritual circles. Spirituality, as it has come to be understood, surmises that everything has a purpose, everything has a reason, that all humans are here to evolve into their true nature -- namely love -- no matter how long the journey, no matter how many incarnations.“You cannot tell me that he was made up of love.”It’s hard to argue with this one. After all, Hitler has become synonymous with evil. How can evil be love? Aren’t they opposites?I’m a believer and a skeptic. I marry faith and doubt and, over and over again, I return humbled to the truth that there is far more that I will leave this world not knowing than what I will leave knowing.But, being the curious person that I am, I thought, perhaps there was some kind of clue, some kind of answer in the astrology. Why did such a figure emerge? What elements were involved? What qualities did they have? Did it have to do with a particular signature?
Adolf Hitler was a Taurus with a Capricorn moon. Conservative comes to mind, committed, yes, but certainly not evil.
Capricorn moons are known for their deeply sensitive nature which they shield in an ambitious, status conscious shell. Hitler was notoriously rejected from art school, seeding a rage against modernism. But again, nothing here denotes psychopathic tendencies.The more striking aspect of his chart is the emphasis on the 7th house. The 7th house is partnership, it’s one-on-one relating, it’s open enemies and it’s projection. In other words, the 7th house is a mirror. What is universally understood is that Hitler was reflective of society, not the other way around. It’s why his words resonated, it’s why he engendered such a groundswell of support. Nothing occurs in a vacuum. This 7th house factor intrigued me, so I started pulling the charts of Hitler’s contemporaries. Europe witnessed a swath of dictators during the late 30’s and early 40’s. I was curious if I’d find a pattern. Benito Mussolini, too, had a 7th house emphasis. Josef Stalin, by comparison, had an emphasis in the 12th house, the house of self-undoing and the unconscious. And Francisco Franco, the Spanish military general, had a power hungry Moon-Pluto conjunction, the moon also being reflective. Looking at these charts, however, left me exactly where I began. That is to say, energy is neutral until directed.
There is no such thing as an “evil” chart. There are, however, historical trends. And individuals become the embodiment of them.
Now, in no way shape or form does that justify or excuse evil. Horrific things happen every day across this globe, very often perpetrated by governments or those in positions of power. And there is no way to make sense of this. We want to. Our human brains want to find a cause. If we find a cause, then we can address it. Empathy is one avenue, yes... but what if evil just exists? What if it’s part of the human experience, part of the yin and yang? What if it’s all preordained or orchestrated by something larger than ourselves? How do we make sense of that? How do we wrestle with it? The simple answer is, we can’t. We can’t make sense of it. We can try to find historical patterns (they’re there), we can try to find astrological patterns (they’re there). But the true, root cause? Maybe that’s not ours to know.
