where Mountains Meet

NY-based clothing brand, 'where Mountains Meet' was created by innovators Genevieve Saylak and Corissa Santos. After meeting in 2008 as students in fashion design, the two joined forces in 2015 to release their first womenswear collection. The brand is driven by Genevieve’s and Corrisa’s strong passion for ethical production and artisanal design. Their partnership represents a true allegiance for collaboration and craftsmanship. 'wMM' offers environmentally conscious apparel with taste. Made in NY and ethically sourced in the USA, the brand embodies a contemporary line that holds true to quality and design.

“Great things are done where men and mountains meet. This is not done by jostling in the street.” -- William Blake

We caught up with the two designers to ask them to share the seven things they are most excited about at the moment. This is what they said: 1 | Design -- Each season we collaborate with fine artists and artisans to design prints and handmade textiles. These fabrics become the backbone of each collection and are our favorites to design. They have a story to tell and add a richness and originality to the product we offer.2 | Clean beauty -- It’s been a process, but slowly we’re changing over our skincare products to cleaner all-natural, non-toxic ones. Brands we’ve been trying out and love include RMS Beauty, Ursa Major, Pai, Tata Harper and Nu Skin.3 | Winter dressing -- There’s nothing like a frigid New York winter to get us excited about our sweater arsenals. We love knitwear and layering pieces, and our collections and personal style reflect that. 4 | Inspiration -- We’ve been traveling to New Mexico every year since we started the brand. It has been a constant source of inspiration for us. Someday we’ll retire to Santa Fe, but until then we revitalize our souls a little bit with a road trip there or a visit to one of the many national parks the state is home to. 5 | Travel -- Genevieve just got back from a trip to India and Corissa is heading to Israel for the first time this spring with her family. Travel is so important to us — whether it offers you a new perspective, exposure to different cultures or a simple mental escape, cherish it and don’t put it off. You’ll never regret time spent exploring the world.6 | Food -- We’re constantly thinking about eating, cooking and tacos. We signed up for a CSA this summer, which was awesome. You essentially pay for six months of produce upfront, allowing a local farm to cover labor and harvesting costs, and receive a basket of produce each week. It’s the best bargain in town, supports local agriculture and guarantees you’ll have fresh fruit and vegetables regularly. Many of which, in our opinion, make excellent fillings for tacos. 7 | Partnerships -- This month we’re especially excited about our recent collaboration with Hechizo, and even featured the designer and founder of the brand, Hali Emminger on our own blog, Field Notes. We love her jewelry and offered our customers a piece from her collection as a “gift with purchase” during the holidays.
