Kundalini Tips to Activate Your Glandular System

Do you wake up in the morning, roll over, hit the alarm and pray for a few more hours of sleep? You slowly drag your crabby ass out of bed, reminding yourself that there is nothing really wrong and you have everything in the world to be grateful for. But the thing is, you just can’t fake it anymore, you’ve got the blues. It’s common around the New Year to assess your life and level of happiness -- one that is often dependent on whether or not you got the boyfriend you wanted, job you wished for, or if you finished that book you’ve been meaning to write. We make really great cases to feel good or bad about ourselves. But would you believe me if I told you that what we’re lacking in order to be truly happy is not the exterior matters we focus on, but rather something found deep within us?We can actually make our body, mind and spirit happy if we get our glandular and nervous systems functioning properly. The glands and nerves work together to create harmony and balance within the body. Without this unique synergy we wouldn’t have optimal metabolism, digestion, menstruation and sleep, to name just a few. I know personally, what it feels like to be off in all of these because throughout my life I’ve had multiple cases of feeling out of balance, and, if you’re reading this, I’m sure you have too. If these systems aren’t functioning properly we can feel like living in our own bodies is a pretty uncomfortable thing to do.

All of this transformed for me when I started to understand how to heal my body with the power of Kundalini Yoga. Issues I battled for years ceased to exist when I began a daily practice of yogic breath, mantra and meditation.

Truth be told, there are many ways to heal the body and balance the glandular system, and you are most welcome to go find all the secret hacks and gadgets that work for you… but gadgets aside, I have found that when we learn to heal ourselves, there is no greater feeling of power. Here are some Kundalini Yoga tips I’ve found that will not only get your glands secreting properly, but will also change your life: 1 | Breathwork -- Begin with a simple breath practice of 16 short sniffs, pulling the navel in slightly with each one. As you sniff, silently and mentally repeat the mantra “Sat Nam” (meaning, “Truth is my identity”). Follow this by exhaling in 16 parts while vibrating “Sat Nam” again in your mind. Do this for 5 minutes (or if you’re feeling adventurous, try going up to 31). 2 | Get moving -- Get up in the morning and dance or jump on a trampoline like a wild person. This will get your lymph system moving early on in the day. 3 | Self-love -- Practices like Gua Sha and Abhyanga Massage will help move blood stagnation, increase circulation and regenerate tissues. 4 | Chant a mantra out loud -- It can be in any language you desire. Make it something that means something meaningful, like “Victory” or “I am bountiful, beautiful and blissful.” Mantras like “Wahe Guru” (“Wow, the ecstasy of life!”) or the aforementioned “Sat Nam” are really wonderful too. Try it for 11 minutes, because when we practice a meditation for 11 minutes straight the pituitary gland (master gland) begins to change and your nerves learn something new. 5 | Cold showers -- I know it’s a tough pill to swallow but it will get your nerves and glands crackin’ in the morning and snap you out of your bad attitude very quickly! Try this advice and soon you’ll be living your life like you came here to live it -- a happy, healthy human, living your purpose and feeling good from within. Salutations to your sovereignty!
