Natalie Alcala

When Natalie Alcala's son was born, she was looking for a community that understood the juggle of balancing motherhood with a demanding career, specifically in the fashion industry. (At the time, she was the senior editor at Racked LA; she's been a fashion writer for nearly a decade.) She had so many fashion friends who were new, cool moms, so she started referring to them as "Fashion Mamas." The term quickly caught on. She then decided to create a movement, unsure of what the next step was, but open to the universe to guide her. Then in December of 2014, when her son was just three months old, she hosted an official launch brunch in LA for her first 10 Fashion Mamas members. She truly wanted to reward and connect these inspiring women who were leading the industry with a baby on their hips, and she was so excited to find more like-minded muses around the world to join her. Fast forward to today, and Fashion Mamas now has 450 members worldwide.

The Fullest caught up with the original Fashion Mama to ask her what the seven things are that she’s most into at the moment. This is what she said:

1 | Juice Beauty Lip Crayon in Zuma — I'm so obsessed with this lip crayon! I absolutely love the pigment and the fact that it keeps my notoriously dry lips super-hydrated throughout the day. 2 | Pure Barre This my workout of choice. I recently completed a three-month challenge of going to Pure Barre Hollywood three times a week for three months, and I haven't felt this good since pre-baby! I've been going to PB for years, and although I've definitely tried every workout out there, I know that this is the one that will get me to my toned goals.3 | Year of Ours Literally the dopest activewear-meets-sportswear brand out there. I love that everything — from the lace-up football leggings to the ribbed sports bra — offers the perfect '90s aesthetic but with a modern fit.4 | Smoothies — I absolutely need to drink at least one smoothie a day or else I get grumpy. My favorite post-workout mix is frozen banana, almond milk, spinach, cinnamon, cacao powder and vegan protein powder. I used to be an acai bowl girl, but the grab-and-go appeal of smoothies fit my busy schedule much better!5 | Giana Fashion Mamas just produced and hosted this seven-year-old girl's debut LA art show. She is so amazing! We love supporting young talents, and I can't wait to see where her career takes her. She has decades of success coming her way, mark my words.6 | LOVE on Netflix My husband and I were hooked to the first season, so when the second season came out we agreed to watch a few episodes at a time rather than fully binge on it. We're kind of in a mourning phase now that it's over; I can't believe we have to wait a year for the third!7 | Urban Flora by Alina Baraz & Galimatias My son and I love this album. (Yes, at two years old he has pretty eclectic taste in music!) It's a dreamy downtempo mix that I pop in anytime I have a deadline or need to concentrate. Alina's voice is heaven. On Saturday, July 8 from 10am to 4pm, Fashion Mamas will host its first Mamas Making It Summit, taking place at the Loft at W Hollywood Hotel. To celebrate and support working mothers, this unique day will feature six panels and six experiences, and speakers will range from wellness beauty guru Shiva Rose to former Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky.
