Service with Sian Gordon

Yoga runs in Sian Gordon’s bones. Her godfather is the yoga master Alan Finger who has taught for more than 50 years and is the man behind YogaWorks, Yoga Zone, and ISHTA Yoga. At the young age of 7 Sian was already practicing yoga and was well-versed in the world of meditation. Her practice has since shaped her life. She earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Bennington College and a Masters in Educational Psychology from NYU… eventually becoming a certified instructor at the Sivananda Ashram. Growing up in the Upper East Side, she moved to Montauk in 2005 and found there was a lack of truly good yoga studios. In 2009 she took matters into her own hands and opened her own, Love: A Yoga Space, which immediately saw great success. Last year Love Yoga opened their second location in Venice Beach with the help of friend and partner, Kyle Miller.Hailing from a family of yogis, Sian grew up with an innate knowledge that she regularly shares with her classes. P+S recently caught up with Sian who shared a few of these affirmations. She stresses the importance of finding balance, being altruistic, and spending quiet time alone away from the distractions of the outside world. It is then that a person can truly be content, and it is then that a person can wholly be of service to others… which, in itself, is a type of yoga Sian adheres to.https://youtu.be/Uri2SSRHiW8
