Your Word Is Everything

Our words create our reality. From our thoughts to the words we speak, we are constantly co-creating with the universe. Thanks to “The Secret” and the ever-popular new age movement, you probably already knew that, but are you aware that every time you break your word, you lose energy? Or that there is a great (or not-so-great) architecture behind every sound that leaves your mouth? It turns out that if your words lack clarity, so will your life.As a writer, words are a major part of my daily existence. Off the page, I have struggled at times with my language lacking integrity. You know when you say you'll do something, but you don't? Yeah, that was me.Ever eager to change my ways, I connected with the word warrioress herself, Taylor EyeWalker. Taylor is both a kundalini yoga teacher and coach, helping her clients create the life they dream. According to Taylor, our words must be clear, consistent and packed with a strong sound current. "When we express a desire, a thought, or a plan and move forth with action, we are automatically building energy within us. Therefore, our physical reality benefits," she says. That means if we can't control our speech, we are lacking the energy to fulfill our highest potential as human beings. So what’s a girl to do when she can’t seem to follow through? Get up and try again! If self-reliance is a challenge, try recruiting an accountability partner in the form of a friend or mentor. A positive experience with keeping your word will inspire you to value this way of life. Not to mention the added energy you will feel as a result. Before you know it, your relationships will be stronger and that second cup of coffee won’t be necessary.Once you’re buzzing on fidelity, you’ll start yearning for consistency and longevity. Knowing how to fully show up requires having a clear vision for each important area of our lives. In order to do that, we have to know ourselves deeply and be able to define the type of life we’d like to create. Taylor suggests that deeper contemplation, writing, helpful questions from a guide you trust and often times mentorship or coaching are helpful daily practices that can help seekers stay on track. Some of us may already have a clear vision of what we want, but continue to stay stuck because of our sound current. After all, it mirrors our internal belief systems, both good and bad. With a strong sound current, we command listeners. We convey our message. And attract a deeper understanding. Taylor invites us to consider thinking of shaping our sound current like an architect.“An architect creates plans for the structure, design and layout of an inhabitable structure,” she says. “We want to retrain our brain to create thought forms that use a specific language in order to create the reality we wish to see. It all begins with a thought, then speech, then action in congruence with thought and speech.”How exactly does one change a thought pattern? After all, 95 percent of our beliefs are held in the subconscious.Say hello to mantras, meditation and kundalini yoga!  A simple but profound mantra Taylor recommends using throughout the day is, “I am.” It quiets negative thoughts and connect us with our oneness. If meditation still sounds a bit woo woo to you, here is a collection of studies that proves the benefits.
