The Sabah Dealer

How do you Sabah? If you have no idea what that means, don’t trip!  We wouldn’t want you to ruin your kicks. Although, you’re going to want a new pair after learning more about The Sabah House in New York City’s East Village, home to an increasingly popular 2-year-old Turkish shoe brand loved by jet-setters and fashionistas. We recently hung out with founder Mickey Ashmore, a former Microsoft finance strategist with an undying love for travel who lived in Istanbul and named his company after the Turkish term for “morning,” which natives use to start the day as a friendly greeting. These beautiful little slippers could not make a better holiday gift, as they are produced with respect for traditions, family values and roots. Hand-stitched in Turkey by a family using techniques passed down for 300 years, we’re talking top-quality steez made out of buttery calfskin and a sturdy buffalo leather sole. These slip ons are meant to last, and are known for molding to your feet and looking better as they age. Mickey, aka The Sabah Dealer, upgraded and updated the style to make them a little less Aladdin-esque. Sabah's are the perfect gift for any person on your holiday shopping list, as they’re made for men, women, boys, and girls. Plus, they come in any color you could want. It’s impossible not to find a pair you’ll fall madly in love with. You can dress them up or down. You can even accessorize; Sabah released their first American-made, custom tanned leather travel bag, The Sabah Traveler that goes perfectly with yo slippas. The best time to stop by the shop is for Sabah Sundays. Mickey and his friends share laughs, cocktails and Sabah stories. He lives, works and plays in the space; it’s a complete hangout for friends and strangers alike filled with travel books, Mickey’s photographs taken in India, and a collection of globes. Did we mention Sabahs? So many Sabahs.sabbah-dealer-3If you’re not in NYC often, fret not. Mickey and his crew are setting up shop across the states: Los Angeles, Dallas, Nashville, San Francisco, and Chicago are in the works. For SoCal folks like us, this month you’re in luck because The Sabah Dealer is coming straight to LA for your convenience and hosting a residence from December 3rd-20th in Venice. Head to 1617 Abbot Kinney and join them for music, cocktails and Sabahs on their opening weekend! If you’re looking to give a gift that people will actually use, we recommend buying a few pairs because everyone loves ‘em. Or if, you know, your birthday is in December and you constantly get gypped on presents, then you should definitely just receive a pair by telling your friends and family your preferred color and size. Whether you’re giving or receiving, the Sabah Dealer’s got a pair just for you.Follow them on insta @TheSabahDealer to learn #howwesabah
