Give Yourself Some Love

This month we’re focusing our tapping sessions on self-love. I see it over and over again with clients; with issues ranging from sugar cravings to PTSD, it always comes back to self-love. It’s as vital to our well-being as vitamin C. Yet most of us aren’t taught how to love ourselves and we don’t see many role models for this in the world. So how do we do it? How do we generate and sustain love for ourselves? One of the best places to start is with some self-acknowledgment.It can be helpful to make a list of 10 or more things for which you’d like to give yourself some acknowledgment. You can write down things you like about yourself, things you’ve accomplished -- big and small, and things you do well. If self-acknowledgment is near impossible for you, you can imagine seeing yourself through the eyes of a cherished observer, through the eyes of someone who cares for you. This can be someone from your past, it can be a beloved pet or it can be a spiritual connection. You can even tap as though they are the one speaking the words to you if that helps you to start the process of self-acknowledgment.Self-acknowledgment can assist you in seeing yourself more accurately, correcting for that negativity bias in the brain.
